Innovation Canada – Boosting Commercialization of Research

Good move by the Canadians!

“The Canadian government wants the federal National Research Council to do more to help businesses and industry with their research needs, reports CBC News. In a speech Tuesday, Gary Goodyear, Canada’s science minister, outlined the plan for the country’s top science agency to be a “concierge” service to connect the private sector with researchers. “This is a great opportunity to focus the NRC more toward the business end, the applied end, the commercialization-successful end of any discovery,” said Mr. Goodyear. The idea was first floated in a report submitted last fall by an expert panel.”
